"Tottering with the weight of years, Peter Truitt Clark fell at his home last Sunday evening and sustained injuries that resulted in his death on Wednesday. Having passed his 92nd birthday, he had the distinction of being the oldest man in Denton and was seen almost daily on the streets of the town. He had attended church on the day of the fatal fall. Mr. Clark was a native of DE, the son of John and Mary Truitt Clark, of Kent county. Retiring from farming, his life work, he removed from Sandtown to Denton 29 years ago. Succeeding Capt. Robert W. Stewart, Mr. Clark was appointed bailiff of the Circuit Court for Caroline County at the April term in 1908, in which office he still continued at the time of his death. His wife, formerly Miss Emily Cooper, of DE, died twenty-five years ago. In a home with his two daughters, Misses Elizabeth and Emma Clark, who survive, his last years were spent. Surviving with the daughters there are six sons: Harry Clark, of Queen Anne; Fletcher, of Easton; Wallace, of St. Michaels; P. Webster, of Louisville, KY; Thomas, of Los Angeles, CA; Oscar, of Denton. He leaves 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild [Hugh Duffey Clark] Funeral services will be held at the late home at 3 o'clock this afternoon and the burial will be in Denton cemetery.
