OTHER RESEARCH NOTES:

Search of Other Parish Registers
- A search of the baptismal registers of Ss. Peter and Paul RC Church, Brochterbeck, Nordrhein-Westfalen, from 1812-1814 inclusive (pages 183-190 of the register at https://data.matricula-online.eu/en/deutschland/muenster/brochterbeck-st-peter-und-paul/KB001_1/?pg=124) and from 1815-1820 inclusive (pages 1-51 of the register at http://data.matricula-online.eu/en/deutschland/muenster/brochterbeck-st-peter-und-paul/KB002/?pg=1), shows no baptisms of a child with the surname Gibmeyer. This Catholic church was in the vicinity of Tecklenburg, but only one of the baptisms in this time frame was from a family from Tecklenburg.
- A search of the baptismal registers of St. Mauritius RC Church, Ibbenbüren, Nordrhein-Westfalen, from 1 January 1812 to 31 December 1814 inclusive (pages 112 to 138 of the register at https://data.matricula-online.eu/en/deutschland/muenster/ibbenbueren-st-mauritius/KB003_1/?pg=116) and from 1 January 1815 to 18 July 1820 inclusive (pages 1-232 of the register at http://data.matricula-online.eu/en/deutschland/muenster/ibbenbueren-st-mauritius/KB005/?pg=1), shows no baptisms of a child with the surname Gibmeyer. This Catholic church was in the vicinity of Tecklenburg, but none of the baptisms in this time frame was from a family from Tecklenburg.
- A search of the baptismal registers of St. Martinus RC Church, Hagen am Teutoburger Wald, Niedersachsen, show over 50 Gibmeyer baptisms in registers that cover the years from 1651 to 1901. They include Gibmeyer baptisms in the early 1800s.

Probate Records
- According to Maryland Register of Wills Records, there is an account of the settlement of his estate, dated 21 October 1872, in the records of the Baltimore Orphan's Court. This document may have further information on him.

Passenger Lists
- The "Maryland, Baltimore Passenger Lists, 1820-1948" database on familysearch.org shows the arrival, early in the third quarter of 1838 (October-December 1838) of a Joh F Hibmeyer, farmer, age 23 years, from Germany (on page 4 of the lists, first name, available at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L97J-XH39?i=128&cc=2018318&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQK6L-51YT) and a Maria E. Kochs a few pages later (on page 7 of the lists, twelfth name, available at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-997J-XH9B?i=131&cc=2018318&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQK6L-RM9L). Both are traveling alone without family members of the same name. If this is the arrival record of both, Catherine Elisabeth Koch would have been about to deliver their first child, and it is odd that they are not listed together. This is the only Baltimore arrival record with a Gibmeyer (or closely related name) in the 1830s on familysearch.org.
- On ancestry.com, the same couple appears to be listed. Its database on "Baltimore, Passenger and Immigration Lists, 1820-1872" shows the arrival of a Maria Elisabeth Kochs on 12 September 1838 on the bark Pennsylvania, bound from Bremen to Baltimore, with her place of origin listed as Diepholz (a town 20 miles from Ostercappeln). On the same ship with the same arrival date was Joh. Friedrich Hibmeyer, with his place of origin listed as Tecklenburg. Again, they were not listed together on the passenger list. Both listed their eventual destination as Ohio -- New Bremen for Johann Friedrich Hibmeier and Cincinnati for Maria Elisabeth Kochs. This would suggest that they might have met on the boat, but that is inconsistent with the birth of their first child in October 1838 in Baltimore. The reference for both records is to NARA Microfilm Series M255, roll 2, list 50.

35 ADDRESS:
Lettercran townland, Lot 7 (building 7b) - Griffiths Valuation, 1859.

DEATH:
Listed as deceased in 1876 marriage record of his son, John Haughey.

FAMILY MEMBERS:
Thomas Haughey shared Lot 7, Lettercran townland with Hugh Haughey (who lived in building 7a) in 1859 Griffith's Valuation.
Hugh Haughey of Lettercran was the father of James Haughey, who is enumerated there in the 1901 Census of Ireland with his family and who is buried with his family in Lettercran Graveyard.
A tombstone for Catherine Haughey, who died in 1850 aged 55 years, was erected in Lettercran Graveyard by her son Patt, according to the inscription. The stone also mentions her son Neal, who died young.
A different Thomas Haughey, aged 65, is enumerated with a cousin, Bernard Lynch, in the 1901 Census of Ireland for Lettercran.
Another Haughey family, headed by Francis and Annie Haughey is resident in Lettercran in 1901, but their marriage record has not been found to establish who his father might have been.

POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL RECORDS:
There are two death records for Thomas Haughey in Donegal civil registrations between 1864 and 1876:
Donegal 1864, Q3, vol 12, page 24
Donegal 1864, Q4, vol 17, page 34
