Albums Simon Family Photo Album, Late 1890s (15)
These are the photos from an album created by Bernard and Mary Zarnitz Simon in the late 1890s, and handed down to their daughter, Bernadine Simon Lorenz. She is responsible for the labels on the photos. Her descendants have given it to Bob Simon for safekeeping, and he has digitized these photos (and inscriptions on the back of photos). A Shutterfly book of the photos in this album, with commentary by Bob Simon, is available -- send an email for more information.

IMMIGRATION:
- Elise Otterbein, age 20, is listed as a passenger on the "Nurnberg," arriving at Baltimore in August 1877 from Bremen, Germany, traveling with Barbara Otterbein, age 32. This appears to be the correct age to be the same person as Anna Elisabeth Otterbein in other records. It is possible that Barbara Otterbein was her half-sister from Bad Salzschlirf.
- On the other hand, there appear to be two U.S. Census records for Eliabeth Otterbein in the household of John Reus, the earlier in 1870. She was listed as 12 years of age in 1870, but on the other hand, her father had died in 1863 and her mother's maiden name was Reus, so John Reus could have been an uncle or other relative.
DEATH:
- Full date given as 10 December 1892 in the Register of Interments for Holy Cross RC Church, Baltimore, Maryland, page 170. On microfilm no. # MdHR M-1918 in Maryland Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland. Listed as Elizabeth A. Simon, wife of Bernard Simon. Cause of death given as consumption.
