"Katherine Pabis Suto
"April 21, 1940 - October 20, 2021
"Obituary
"Katherine Pabis Suto, age 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at her home in Warrenton, Virginia. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 21st, 1940, daughter of the late George & Mary Simon.
"Katherine was a gifted storyteller and her family and friends loved to hear her talk about growing up in her parents? bakery and having her cousins as neighbors and friends.
"After graduating from Seton High School, Katherine soon became engaged to Thomas Lampsa, an Air Force pilot. Tragically, Tom died in a plane crash before they were married. Katherine went on to teach 3rd and 4th grade at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Essex, Maryland. Her best friend Betty Thiemeyer dragged her to a Sadie Hawkins dance on April 1, 1962, where she met John Pabis. They married and had five children. They lived in Camp Springs, Maryland for twelve years before moving to Warrenton, Virginia in 1978.
"Katherine volunteered for many organizations, including Literacy Volunteers. Wherever Katherine went and got involved, she made lifelong friends. She was always thinking of ways to help family, friends, and even strangers, and wasn?t afraid to dive into an uncomfortable situation if it meant helping someone.
"Katherine is survived by her five children, Julia P. Sarr (David) of Manassas, VA, John 'Jack' Pabis (Melissa Atherholt) of Frederick, MD, George Pabis (Trish) of Lynchburg, VA, Joe Pabis of Reston, VA and Kate Warner (Ned) of Alexandria, VA; three siblings, Albert Simon (Elizabeth) of Ellicott City, MD, George Simon (Mary) of Baltimore, MD and Rita McMullin (Denny) of Timonium, MD; and nine grandchildren, John, Sasha, Maya, Cy, Jake, Scott, Zachary, Benjamin & Katherine.
"In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her first husband, John R. Pabis and her second husband, Peter L. Suto.
"A memorial service will be held on October 30, 2021. There will be a private interment at Warrenton cemetery.
