      Year of birth consistent with age (17 years) given in the 1870 U.S. Census for Delaware, Kent County, page 238A, line 31. State of birth given as Delaware. Enumerated as Robert P. Hurd, along with mother and siblings.
      Two enumerations occur in the 1880 U.S. Census:
      Year of birth would be 1858, according to age (22 years) given in 1880 U.S. Census for
      Delaware, Kent County, page 125B, line 17. State of birth given as Delaware. Enumerated
      as Pennewill Hurd, single, with mother Rachel and siblings. Enumeration date was 26 June
      1880. It would seem that the information given in this census record was accurate as of
      January 1, 1880 (since Robert P. Hurd was married on 20 January 1880).

      An entry in the Register of Deaths, Sussex County, 1902-1911 (# 9265) for Robert Hurd, white, male, married, born Delaware, died in Milford on 4 October 1907, appears to be consistent with this individual. The age of the deceased given in the register entry, though, is 46 years--off by 8 years. It is likely that this entry refers to Robert P. Hurd, but contains erroneous data.
