      OBITUARY: Delaware State News, 5 February 2001:
      "CAMDEN - Naomi Hurd of Camden died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 69.
      "Mrs. Hurd was born May 28, 1931, in Pearsons Corner, daughter of the late Goldie and Paul Shahan.
      "In her early life, she worked for a short time for Shorts Market and Ennis Bus Service.
      "Her most recent years were filled with family and life as a homemaker.
      "In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Shahan, Paul Shahan Jr. and Gemalli Shahan.
      "She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Herbert Hurd; a daughter, Joan Dale Bennett of Dover; three sons, Wesley Herbert of Arkansas, and Michael Allen Hurd and Kenneth Wayne Hurd, both of Camden; four brothers, Norris Shahan of Frederica, Levi Shahan of Hartly, Crawford Shahan of Harrington and Joseph Shahan of Hartly; two sisters, Jeannette Case of Jacksonville, Fla., and Virginia Leager of Downs Chapel; four grandchildren, Herbert Franklin Bennett of South Carolina, Darlene Bennett of Dover, Chris Hurd of Camden and Steve Hay of Smyrna; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler James Bennett and Faith Kristian Bennett.
      "Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Ronald L. David will officiate.
      "Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Sandtown."
