Tombstone inscription states that John G. Hurd is the son of Fannie S. and Peter Hurd.

Hurd, a young farmer, were united in marriage at the M.E. [Methodist Episcopal] parsonage in Greensboro on Tuesday evening last by Rev. J.A. Leach. There was a largely attended reception and wedding dinner at the home of the bride's parents."
